Tag, Your It, Blog Hop

Greetings! First I’d like to take the time to thank Runรฉre for tagging me so I could join in the fun on this introductory blog hop. I can’t wait to read BLACK DOLL, the first book in her New Orleans based ‘Silent Doll’ series, seven stories that begin with an anonymously delivered Voodoo doll!
So, let me get to these questions I was given.
1.)   What are you currently working on right now?
Well, I’m finishing editing on the last few pages of my newest book, THE UNFORSEEN RESCUE. I hope to have it ready to release around Halloween. Though each of my books can be read as a stand-alone, my characters come from a central world, interacting with each other in their own story. This newest one has a connection to the main characters from FOREVER LOST, my first ebook, available at http://www.amazon.com/Forever-Lost-ebook/dp/B007COU8I6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380577433&sr=8-1&keywords=Paula+Hardin , but it's also available on Barnes and Noble, and Itunes, and Smashwords. I have another book I’m preparing to start edits on, hoping to have it ready for Heather Graham’s conference in December. With two other stories underway, I stay pretty busy! Oh! I bet you’d like to see the covers! Here they are for both books.

3.)   Why do you write what you do?

Smiling fondly. I owe it all to Christine Feehan. Once I started reading her books I was hooked on the Paranormal genre. It started out as a joke, but while waiting for her next book to come out, I tried my hand at story telling. But as I began to write my first pages, to build my characters, it quickly became real. Now I see my characters everywhere. While cooking dinner, watching TV, talking to a friend, my mind tends to go off and I’m transported back into my story. All I want to do is write.

That time I first tried my hand at writing I thought I was doing good, but I know now it needed work. I had not yet learned the craft. When she read my first pages, she didn’t tell me how mangled my work was; instead she told me how she loved this and that about my story. With her encouragements, it keeps me inspired. She’s a Icon, a legend to me and all who love her work.  Through the learning process and workshops, I have come a long way. And if she’s reading this, I want to say thank you. I love you beyond all the stars in the sky.

4.)   How does my writing process work?

After deciding to write a particular story, I find names for my main characters, I think about any habits they might have, what they look like  . . . and write them down! I learned the hard way when I forgot a character’s eye color about half way through the manuscript. I find a personal habit, good or bad, to bring them closer to the reader. I do all this while making primitive dolls. My love for the paranormal sneaks in there as well when I occasionally create Witch and Mummy dolls. Hahaha!  I sell them locally and online, with some of the money supporting my writing by buying my promos, and covers.

I tried to plot out my storyline, but lost the whole feel for the story. I don’t know what happens, or why, but it does.  So I think I write by the seat of my pants . . .hahaha . . .

Well, thank you for stopping by. It was my greatest pleasure to have you here!

PS—I tag April M. Reign and Tressa Messenger and Rita Bay. These ladies are great storytellers, so come prepared to meet two awesome ladies!

Fall Is Coming

Greetings Peeps. I hope all is well in your world. Fall is on it's way. I don't mind the weather for fall, but winter I don't like the cold. On the other hand, I love the rich earth tone colors, and the upcoming holidays. Life is a fast paced in mine, and I never seem to have enough time to do the things I need done. Twenty more pages and my edits will be completed. My cover is awesome, and I love it. I already showed a quick peek. My blurb about half done. Compacting a book into two small paragraphs isn't easy. Not for a chatter box like myself. Grins wickedly. You can't tell that by my blog because I know I let it go for weeks, months sometimes, without leaving a post, but I feel like I'm talking to myself and I find this harder then writing.
I have two blog appearances coming up, so I'm really nervous and excited. I don't want to mess up and embarrass myself. I would be mortified. When I meet people in real life, I say I'm shy, but I warm up quickly. My husband will tell you on the other hand. I never meet a stranger.
I love primitive dolls, and Halloween is my favorite making all kinds of ghost, witches, mummies and I've made a Frankenstein. Here are a few pictures for your pleasure.

Weight Lost 90 day Challenge " I DARE YOU"

At Skinny Body Care, managing your weight doesn’t have to be about constantly counting calories or spending hours on the treadmill. While diet and exercise are always important to your health, moving more and eating less doesn’t always get results …which is the biggest reason why most weight loss programs flat out DON’T WORK!
How many times have you tried a diet or weight loss program, followed all the directions, and didn’t get results? It’s not your fault!
One of the most important factors when it comes to weight management is that your body needs to be healthy enough to not need that extra fat to protect it!
Sounds crazy, but the fat in your body is there for a reason. It protects our organs, regulates our hormones, and so much more.
So if you have any health challenges, there is often extra fat on your body to protect it from those challenges causing more serious problems. That means, until your body is confident enough that it is going to survive without that extra fat, losing weight is almost impossible!
That’s what sets Skinny Fiber apart from any other product on the market!
Not only is Skinny Fiber scientifically formulated with some of the world’s most powerful weight management ingredients, it is also packed with powerful enzymes to get your body ready to finally lose that extra fat once and for all!

New Orleans is my Muse

Just in case you want to know more about me. I'm big on New Orleans, La. I was born, raised there, until nineteen ninety four, when I moved to Mississippi to start over. But, New Orleans is my home, I love it there and miss it everyday.
For me, there's no place in the world which can compare. The French Quarters, Magazine street It's has it's own world. It's not just the places, but its the people, the food, the atmosphere. When I find myself stuck and can't write. I drive down and walk the streets of the French Quarter. Drive on Magazine watch the joggers running with their dogs, and people moving about listening to music with their headphones. Loyola college people from different states live there, and you see them all over. The street car is fabulous. It can take you all over and even to Jackson Brewery.
When you watch the movies, which makes us New Orleans people laugh, you always see Mardi Gras scenes. You would think we're always doing Mardi Gras. NOT people it's once a year. And we don't talk like the movie people portray us. The accent they use... sounds mostly like Thibodaux, La area.
And the gumbo is my favorite. Yummmm... So here are a few pictures.

Jambalaya Writer's Conference in Houma, LA

This weekend I spent it at the Jambalaya Writer's Conference in Houma, La with my hubby. It was a great turnout with great authors such as Heather Graham, Jennifer Blake/Patricia Maxwell, Hank Phillippi Ryan and many more. Molly Bolden a Librarian was there giving the conference it's spice, and tell all input. The book signing had some terrific authors whom there were too many to mention or this would just end up a list.  St Martin Press had two great editors Monique Patterson, Rose Hillard. With Rachel Ekstrom agent who gave us great advice, a few laughs. I walked away feeling energized and ready to write. Here are a few pictures.

Today's Ramblings..

I'm so excited to be heading out tomorrow. (Friday) for Houma, LA to spend my Saturday at the Jambalaya Writer's Conference. I'll be in workshops, and getting pumped up on writing. I love meeting authors, and editors, and to find out what genre is hot, and what's being asked for by publishers.

I'm working on edits on my steampunk story, I can't wait to get it out there. It'll be a short story, but a series of shorts. I can't just do steampunk it'll have
something extra. Since writing paranormal I find it kind of hard to write just plain jane. Not that plain jane is bad, I read everything. I just find it hard to write it. I am trying to broaden my genres and not be stuck into only one. I think that is important for a writer to do this.

I have my second vampire story in edits too, I can't wait, I'm building my world slowly, by intertwining my characters with each other. I love the whole idea about bringing my characters together in different books, with cities, and danger, and love, keeping updates on the past characters while the new take over the now.

What do you think about Microsoft buying out Barnes and Nobles, that's just crazy to me.  I haven't sold a book in Pubit in the past three months, as before I sold more through them then Amazon. Now it's flipped, and I get nothing.  I went to check my stats today, and come to find out, Pubit will be shutting down and Nook Press will be taking over, and I had to move my stuff over. What does this mean? I'm hoping more sales.

I'm going to be a guest on Coffeetime Romance Blog

Hi all,
I think this is really exciting news, and I wanted to share with you. On March 3rd on a Sunday, I'll have a guest blog on Coffeetime Romance. It's a place I have been visiting and a member forever it seems. Networking as a author, artist or anyone who is trying to promote oneself understands the need for someone to come out and be part of your world.  I know I have a few new crafting friends here now, so please come visit with me. I know my writing is a huge difference then primitive crafting, but I'd love to have you all there. I'll be talking about my book. Here is the link: http://coffeetimeromance.com/CoffeeThoughts/

I love to write, and I'm presently working on a couple of things, building a world of my own. I need two of me so I'd have more time to write. I just wanted to share my news. I'm really excited.
